Allison Chinchar is a meteorologist for CNN as well as HLN. She is frequently featured on the CNN's New Day Weekend as well as HLN's Weekend Express', as in CNN International programs. Prior to being hired by CNN in June 2015 she was a meteorologist at regional stations located in Atlanta, Nashville, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. She reported on hurricanes, blizzards, and storms in addition to flooding and wildfires, and won an Emmy for her coverage of Hurricane Dorian which struck the Bahamas during the year of 2019. In April 2011 she was a reporter for the Super Tornado Outbreak, which saw 350 tornadoes strike the Southeastern United States within four days. The worst of them were recorded on the 27th of April 2011. Due to her experience in environmental sciences, she's also reported on volcanoes, earthquakes and other natural catastrophes, in addition to climate change stories. Chinchar holds a Bachelor's degree of Atmospheric Science, which she completed at The Ohio State University. Chinchar is an active member of a number of associations, including that of American Meteorological Society and Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.
